The Oregon Trail
You may be thinking of that computer game we played as kids, but no. I’m talking about The Oregon Trail. The one that Elyse of Plum & Oak Photo and I got to explore in June!
It all started with a simple text asking me if I wanted to go to Portland. I didn’t hesitate for one second, “Yes.” It was official, #ThePrettyProject was taking on Oregon!
The next thing I knew, Elyse and I were on our way to the airport, way too early in the morning, ready to take on all the weird that the Beaver State had to offer. And weird doesn’t even begin to describe all the fun that we got ourselves into.
We jam packed our days with visits to Voodoo Donut, Blue Star Donut (our favorite!), 10 Barrel Brewery and The Pearl District for some hip eateries. We also got to experience the Japanese Gardens, Multnomah Falls, and make new Uber friends along the way!
On our second day, we decided to hike up Saddle Mountain. What we both failed to research, was just HOW intense the “little jaunt” up the mountain was really going to be. We were armed with cute dresses and running shoes and took in every weird look that came our way. But when we got to the top, we knew our hike was worth it. And it was there that I forgot all about my uncomfortable outfit, sweaty hair and attention we were getting. It was on Saddle Mountain, that we truly got to experience Oregon in all it’s beauty. And I’m so glad we braved that trip.
We finished off the night at Canon Beach and it was more beautiful than any picture I had seen.
Elyse and I aren’t done paving across The Oregon Trail, but I hope you enjoy some of my favorite pictures from a trip I will never forget!
