Getting on the wedding planning train? Let me tell you something, getting on this ride requires heavy research and effective budgeting skills.

Like most brides, the first thing needed for a perfect plan is having a budget. Stick to it and you’re good to go. Wait, it’s not done yet, you still have to choose the details and where your budget goes. To help you out, we’ve got the perfect list for you. Read on and find out where your budget should go.

1. Food

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, not just to your man but to your guests as well. Always make food the top of your list. Have Hors d'oeuvres or bite-sized treats as soon as the guests arrive at your reception. Your entourage will definitely appreciate this after a long day of shoots and wedding preparations. Another great idea: Have an open bar as soon as the guests have eaten to make way for the after-party!

2. Decorations

Don’t settle for anything less than what you expect. Wedding decorations keep the big day unforgettable and it just shows a part of you two as a couple. Pick items or details that will make your event sparkle. Be particular with the flowers, reception structures, and table centerpieces that would forever stick in the minds of your friends and family.

3. Favors

What better way to remember your wedding day than to have your wedding engraved in a favor. Personalized favors reflect you as a couple or at least an important part of your love story. You could go for a photo booth or have some bonding time with your partner for some Do-It-Yourself wedding favors. If you lack the imagination, surf the internet for possible ideas.

4. Videographer & Photographer

If you want your wedding day to last a lifetime, the best way is to have an excellent photographer and videographer to capture the right moments and your sweetestat that. Get a package and have a (pre-wedding) prenup video, same-day-edit video, aerial shots using drones and wedding slideshows to make the moments last forever. Check out different photographers and check the prices, it’s best to have a team of photographers and have different views of the big day.

5. Music and Entertainment

You won’t want a dead air on your wedding reception, so pick the right band or DJ and you’ll get the mood that you want for your reception. Quick tip: Ask a referral from your friends or at least find the time to actually hear them sing.
