It’s crazy how excited I get when a couple wants to do something outside the box. I knew from my first conversation with Alexa-Rae that she had that style, the style that just oozes “cool.” She shared the cutest love story of how she met Nathan and how he popped the question. They were visiting with family in San Felipe, Baja California, MX, a spot near and dear to her. She had grown up going there every year and this time was extremely special, because in the midst of her working her family’s annual off-roading event, Poker Run, she was told to go get ready. When she came back, her sister asked if she would do an impromptu polaroid picture session down at the beach with Nathan. It was there, that her sister captured Nathan down on one knee, exchanging some heart felt words, asking Alexa-Rae to be his wife. Little did they know then, a few short months later, we’d be dressing them up in florals with plastic flamingos, frolicking through the desert! For this e-sesh we bounced around The Parker Palm Springs and The Ace Hotel, before making our way out to the windmills. Elyse of Plum and Oak Photo and I always want to provide creative couples with epic shoots that will show off their unique and quirky style. Our collaborations are always epic, and this one was no different. We brought on the super talented Samantha Louise Designs to do some funky hand lettering on giant monstera palm leaves. Kimberly of The Dainty Lion composed the most insane bouquet I have ever laid my eyes on. We couldn’t be more thrilled by the collaboration. My favorite part? Setting up flamingo’s in an empty windmill field. Just too cool.
